Tiwanaku is a Technical Death Metal band formed by the former bassist/vocalist of the legendary NOCTURNUS, Ed Mowery, on guitar and features current Fear Factory Drummer Mike Heller. Many years in the making, Tiwanaku aims to break down genre constraints and push past the cliches and trends to create brain splattering, mind altering metal music with a purpose. The musical pedigree of the band is rounded out by guitar genius Michael Estes and Bassist Chris Scales.
Their debut album Earth Base One is set for a 2018 CD, Vinyl, and Digital release, and will tackle a wide variety of musical elements. Pushing the boundaries of Death Metal beyond even what Ethereal Tomb was, Tiwanaku combines atmospheric passages, brutality, melody, and aggression with deep lyrics and diverse vocals to create a fresh new sound while retaining its old-school roots. Guest musicians include solos from Markradonn & Pontifex guitarist Haniel Adhar and ex-Nocturnus six-stringer Sean McNenney, and vocalists Michael Black (Taipan) and Zak Begley.
Presales and a funding campaign start in late summer/early fall 2017.
Tiwanku's first single, "Today In Battle" features Alex Webster on bass guitar, and can be downloaded from Bluntface Record's on this page.
Ed Mowery is proudly sponsored by Schecter guitars.
