A veteran of the New England music scene for over a decade, Otto Kinzel has recorded and toured nonstop with several Industrial and Metal bands from the region. He has been a member of Black Eye Susan, Wormdr1v3, Burden of Liberty, Change of Season, and The Isolated Sequence. Now in 2009 he steps out with his new project, Chemical Distance, inspired by his love of Industrial/Electronic based music, but with a much more sinister edge.
"I always loved bands like Ministry, KMFDM, Atari teenage Riot; My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult... the fusion of drum machines and sequencers with live musicianship has fascinated me since I first got Ministry's A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste. I hope to release something that does the genre proud and hopefully stake at least a small claim in a scene that has given so much to me".
Although this particular album will be in the Industrial/Metal/Electronic genre, Kinzel insists that future releases will not necessarily follow the same musical path. An avant-garde musician who is a chameleon when it comes to styles, you can expect that a follow up album will probably be drastically different.
“I love a band like Mr. Bungle, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Fu Manchu as much as the bands listed above, and have other material written and recorded to reflect those influences. My hope is that if this CD does well than I will have an avenue to release these other recordings. I get really bored playing just one type of music. I need to jump around and keep things fresh. So while making one or two albums of industrial music is fun, I would get tired really quick if I had to stick to that style for the rest of my life".

Live and in studio vocals and lyrics on: The GoldenChild, Sugar, Old Man, The Carnival, and Red Queen’s Race.
Michael Hauptly-Pierce has dabbled with melodies and harmonies since early childhood, from keyboard to fiddle to bass. He wrote his first song in 3rd grade, and has continued the trend since. After a decade immersed in the printed word, he has returned to his lyrical roots. While currently focusing on rhythm-driven genres, inspired by Micheal Franti, Chali2Na, and Depeche Mode, he comes with a strong dose of Simon and Garfunkle and Jim Croce, by way of Alan Ginsburg and Lewis Carroll. Aside from Lithermans' Load, this is Lithic's first crack at the music-for-public-consumption nut, previous 4-track parodies and debaucheries notwithstanding. Working with Otto and Matt has been enjoyable, educational, inspirational, and the album is the proof! What a steep learning curve thes professionals present, and the futere looks even better!

Matt Connarton is a bassist, songwriter, and producer from Concord, NH.
Over the course of his career, Matt has played in various hard
rock/metal bands, including First Shove, The Jinxx'd, and My Life
Crisis. More recently, Matt has branched out into the industrial genre
as well. He was recently tapped to be the live bassist for Otto
Kinzel's industrial project, performs in his own improvisational
goth-industrial band Viper Casino, and manages the heavily
Nine Inch Nails-influenced Synthetic Killing Unit. Matt also occasionally
improvises bass lines at shows with the Boston-based hip-hop group
Project Hybrid. His live performances are not limited to music,
however, as Matt can often be seen performing as a stage hypnotist as
"The Mesmerizer."
Matt Connarton is also the founder and CEO of Impact Player Music,
which for over a decade has provided artist development and radio
promotion services for independent and unsigned artists of various
genres. In 2007, Impact Player Music launched ipmNation.com, a
cutting-edge and highly successful internet radio station. Matt can be
heard on a variety of ipmNation.com's programming, and his success with
that station led to his also becoming the host of The Hidden Track, a
weekly interview program which runs on www.RageRockRadio.com, one of the
top internet-based hard rock/metal radio stations in the world.
